Jagor and Kasia are from Minsk, Belarus and like photography. I’m sending this card I found at the VMFA entitled Jackson, Mississippi by William Eggleston. I think that’s really cute they are doing Postcrossing together!
UPDATE June 16, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 16 days after traveling 7,602 km! “Thank you for your really amazing card! We very like it. Greets from Minsk!”
Australia! I wonder how long it takes a card to travel from the US to Australia? This is going to Joy in Newcastle who said she might not register her card right away because she’s celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary and going on a cruise! 1) I think it’s amazing she’s been married for 25 years 2) I think that’s really thoughtful she wrote she was away and might not register her card right away on her profile (I’ll have to remember to do that if I leave town) and 3) I want to go to Australia!!! I now have visions of sailing around on a ship and meeting Hugh Jackman. Joy said she collects bookmarks so I mailed her one I made! Here’s a scan of the front and back. 🙂
UPDATE June 18, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 19 days after traveling 15,558 km! “G’day! Thanks so much for the lovely card with my bookmark-how clever! Thanks for our anniversary wishes. Just back from our great trip. (…) Hope all is well there for you. Kind regards.”
This is going to Jussi in Kemi, Finland! He wanted to know the “most interesting book you have ever read.” The 1st two books that came to mind were Prozac Nation (by Elizabeth Wurtzel) and Nightwatch (by Sergei Lukyanenko) – but I have tons of favorites. What’s your favorite?
UPDATE June 5, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 5 days after traveling 6,779 km! “Thank you very much for an interesting card with beautiful stamps!”
I received this awesome postcard today! I love it. Yvonne from the Netherlands wrote that she lives in Walcheren Island which is in the province of Zeeland. Since she lives on an island, there are a lot of lighthouses! That sounds really pretty!!!
My first handmade card! It seems a lot of people on Postcrossing don’t want handmade cards – which is understandable. But I was really curious what I might get and I love seeing how people are different creatively – so I wrote on my profile that I’d like to get handmade cards. Evonne in Taiwan sent this card to me and I thought it was really sweet she took the time to make it! She wrote that many animals are dying and that we need to save them.
I think this painting by Kehinde Wiley is brilliant! I just saw it at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. I sent this card to Stefani in Hangzhou, China because she likes “strange” postcards and I think this is pretty unusual!
UPDATE August 6, 2012: My didn’t arrive yet. 😦 I’m really disappointed because the card was sort of expensive. But I’m trying again and sending this one below! 🙂
UPDATE August 6, 2012: My card reached its destination in 98 days after traveling 12,282 km! “I love your card. Happy Postcrossing!”

Mika in Tampere, Finland sent this to me today! I love the stamp!
Tiffany in Schaumburg, IL contacted me about swapping postcards – my 1st swap! Neat. 🙂 She liked the Virginia mapcard I recently sent and wanted to know if I had another one. I do, so she sent me a Michigan mapcard because I want to start collecting mapcards, too! I can’t believe I lived in Wisconsin for 24 years and have never been to Michigan. Oops. But I’ve been to 24 other states! Below is the card I sent.
Ralf in Berlin, Germany likes cards of black & white images and singers – so I sent him this card of both! I love this Warhol card – I found it at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
UPDATE May 18, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 7 days after traveling 6,860 km! Ralf wrote, “Many thanks for a fantastic card. I like it very much and it made me happy(…)” 🙂
Number 5 is going to Mita in Zhongli City, Taiwan! She likes history, so I hope she likes this card! I think this is one of the prettiest cards I’ve seen in Virginia so far.
UPDATE May 26, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 16 days after traveling 12,818 km! Mita wrote, “Thanks your card! I really love it. Wish you have a nice day!”
This card is going to Anna in Gatchina, Russia! She wanted to know my favorite quote from a book. I told her one of my favorites is “Life is the most spectacular show on earth.” (Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen) She wanted a religious card so I sent her one from St. Patrick’s in NYC.
UPDATE June 5, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 26 days after traveling 7,377 km! “Thank you very much for beautiful card, nice stamps and a story about a book. Happy postcrossing!”
This card is going to Tatsiana in Minsk, Belarus! She is a university student writing a thesis on advertising and needs ad cards. I looked all over Richmond and this was the closest I could find. “Virginia is for lovers” was coined in 1969 and it’s one of the most famous state slogans in the US.
UPDATE May 25, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 15 days after traveling 7,602 km! Tatsiana wrote, “Thank you very much for your beautiful card! (…)”
I GOT MY FIRST POSTCARD TODAY!!!!!! And I couldn’t be more thrilled. 😀 It’s a postcard of cheese, which is something on my wish list, but I never expected to actually get. How awesome. AnneMarieka sent this to me from the Netherlands, and wrote that she just heard a Dutch cheese was named World Champion. Small world – The World Cheese Championships are held every two years in my hometown of Madison, WI. The winning cheese is called Vermeer and it’s made by Friesland Campina in Wolvega, Netherlands. It’s a low-fat, semi-soft Gouda style cheese. Mmmm… AnneMarieka also used a Postcrossing stamp! What an awesome first card to receive! 🙂 Thank you so much AnneMarieka!
