I swapped with Sierra in Brea, California, USA and got this wonderful postcard of Native American Tribes of California! This is so cool! 🙂 I’d love to have one from every state. I also LOVE the vintage stamps! 🙂

I recently traveled back home to Wisconsin for my cousin’s wedding, and found a few more mapcards to add to my collection (shown above)! 🙂 Very oddly I found the Iowa one at Paul Bunyan’s in Wisconsin Dells, which is a few hours from Iowa, but they didn’t have any Wisconsin mapcards! 🙂 That’s fine though, because I was missing an Iowa mapcard, and now I have one in my collection!

Swap #54

CA LA MI 54-DIRECT-SWAP-USA-PA-aug25-stamps

Kathy from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA contacted me about swapping some Chicago World’s Fair postcards that she saw in my swap album. She said her great grandmother had actually gone to the fair in 1933 and left her some original cards! That’s so neat. 🙂 She had some awesome mapcards that I really wanted to add to my collection. Now I have 25 states left! 🙂 YAY!

Julianna is 9 years old and from Bakersfield, California, USA. She wrote on her profile that she likes candy and stickers, so I sent her this card from the Jelly Belly Factory, and some stickers I had. I loved stickers when I was 9! And I still do. 🙂 She also wrote that she just got a puppy, and I told her I love dogs too, and that I volunteer at a charity called The Fairy DogParents.

HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 6 days after traveling 3,700 km! Julianna wrote, “Thank you. The stickers were awesome. You have such a cool job. You are so nice to volunteer at The Fairy DogParents. I hope to go to the Jelly Belly Factory. Thanks again I was excited to get your card & stickers!”

Sent Card #163

I sent this card to Kimberly in Stanton, California, USA. She had this card on her wish list, and I’ve been waiting to send it to someone who really wanted it. I’m glad it found a good home. 🙂 She also loves cats, so I put these cat stamps on the card.

HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 4 days after traveling 3,662 km! Kimberly wrote, “Thanks for the beautiful card! I love it. I’m so glad you were saving for someone (me) that would really appreciate it and I do. I have sent cards that I love and was so afraid they weren’t going to make it and they would get lost and not be appreciated. Luckily that hasn’t happened yet. I don’t want any of my cards to get lost, but there are some that are special. I think you know what I mean. […] Oh, I love the older animal stamps too. […] Thanks again for the great card and maybe I’ll see you on F/B and we can swap! 🙂 Happy Postcrossing! Kimberly”

She also told me about a great Postcrossing “swap” page on Facebook: I just joined and already swapped some postcards for some stamps! 🙂 Yay!

Sent Cards #56, 57 & 58

Minna in Leppävirta, Finland had several cards on her favorites list that I have! I decided to send the first two I saw. Plus I’m sending an ad card – “Night of the Auk” – she said she likes movie posters and sci-fi, so I’m hoping she likes it.

UPDATE Dec. 21, 2012: Hurray! My card reached its destination in 16 days after traveling 7,110 km! Minna said: “Thank you for the wonderful set of cards I received from you today. The envelope already promised a lot – gorgeous stamps from my field of interests and an Angry Birds sticker. The cards were so great. I was very happy to learn what this Liberty of Statue picture is about!” She also wrote that some members of her family started a circus (!!!) called Sorin Sirkus. It sounds so familiar, but I’m not sure why – I’m guessing when I worked for a circus, someone had talked about it or worked for them. Small world!

Ans in the Netherlands likes cards about the Navy, ports, ships, etc. So I sent her this card from the largest Naval base in the world! It’s in Norfolk, VA just 2 hours from me. 🙂
