Favorite cheese: Aura (Finnish blue cheese)
Anne is from Tornio, Finland which is just a kilometer from Sweden! That would be so neat to live right next to another country. I love the postcard and stamp! The stamp has Braille on it which is the first time I’ve seen that. I tried translating “Yön Lähteet” online and it came up with “Night Sources” – no idea if that’s correct, but it seems fitting!
Jenna from Jyväskylä, Finland wrote on her profile that she likes cartoons, so I sent her this card of Lisa Simpson. 🙂 I also told her I recently watched “Mary and Max” which is an Australian claymation from 2009. I really liked it, but it’s pretty dark. It’s about a lonely little girl in Australia who picks a random address in New York City and writes a letter. The recipient turns out to be an obese, lonely man with Asperger’s, and the unlikely pair strike up a friendship…
HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 8 days after traveling 7,017 km! Jenna wrote, “Thank you for the nice card! I haven’t seen Mary and Max. I will check it out. :-D”
I received so many postcards today! I love days like today! 🙂

Favorite cheese: Leerdammer (similar to Emmental)
Silke is a biologist from Northern Germany, and lives near the Baltic Sea. The painting is called “Die Witwe und das Junge Elternpaar” which means “The Widow and the Young Parents”. Such pretty stamps!
I sent this card from Rockford, Illinois to Raul in Tallinn, Estonia. He collects postcards with public transportation systems on them. This is a photo from the early 1900’s.
HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 19 days after traveling 7,127 km! Raul wrote, “Thank you for [the] very interesting postcard and nice stamps. We have still trolleybusses as well as trams in Tallinn. I liked trollybuses very much when I was small. Then I used them very much (to go for activities etc). Currently we have -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). There is also approximately 10-20 cm snow, so it is possible to ski. Warm regards :)”
I sent this card to Tuula in Haukipudas, Finland. She said to send a card that I liked, so I sent her this mapcard of Wisconsin, which is one of my favorites! 🙂 Wisconsin is awesome!!!
HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 6 days after traveling 6,841 km! Tuula wrote, “Hi Maria! Thank You for the card!”
I sent this card to Satu in Rauma, Finland. She said to send the “worst and most tasteless card” I have. 🙂 This is my worst! I call this the creepy Presidents card.
HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 9 days after traveling 6,880 km! Satu wrote, “Hi Maria and thank so much for funny postcard! Happy and artistic new year! Yours Satu” 🙂

HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 9 days after traveling 7,232 km! Egon wrote, “Ahoi! I collect coins and banknotes from around the world. Can you give me what you alone?” He wrote to me in Slovenian (which I don’t speak – but I hope this translation is semi right). Not sure what “alone” means.

Shadia is from France, but lives in London, England. She said she uses Postcrossing as a way to teach her two young children about geography! I’ve noticed other parents do this on Postcrossing too, and I think that’s such a great idea!
Favorite cheese: Jarlsberg
Ingrid from Norway sent me this card she picked up on a recent trip to Israel. I really like the stamp on the left – the grayish part is actually silver.
Favorite cheese: Emmentaler
Leila from Finland sent me this vintage card from St. Petersburg, Russia. It’s of the Peter and Paul Fortress, which I actually went to many years ago! I really like that she reused the envelope that she sent her card in! Yay, upcycling! 🙂
Favorite cheese: juustoleipä
I sent this card to Tiina in Turenki, Finland who likes black and white cards. After reading my profile, she was kind enough to write me back and tell me her favorite cheese – juustoleipä. It is one of my favorites too – someone on Postcrossing had told me about it, and now I love it! It’s a “squeaky” Finnish bread cheese, that’s perfect for grilling because it doesn’t melt.
HURRAY! My card reached its destination in 14 days after traveling 7,038 km! Tiina wrote, “I got your postcard, thanks a lot! […] 🙂 Happy New Year to Virginia!!”
Nea from Korpilahti, Finland sent me this BEAUTIFUL card! She said that she loves scouting and that the official languages of Finland are Finnish and Swedish. I knew that Finnish was an official language, but I didn’t know about Swedish. It makes sense, but I love learning new things! Also, the stamp is beautiful!
I love when I open my mailbox, and I see postcards from all over the world! I absolutely love checking my mail. 🙂
This is the first thing I saw when I opened my mailbox today:
Favorite cheese: Aura (Finnish blue cheese)
Minna from Finland sent me this adorable cow card! On my Postcrossing profile, I ask people to write what their favorite cheese is, and she said hers is Aura – and she pasted a picture of it on her card! I love it! 🙂 She also added a great stamp printed in honor of Finland’s famous “Wife Carrying Competition.” According to the internet, it’s been held in Sonkajärvi, Finland since 1992 and the winner wins the woman’s weight in beer!
Liliya from Babrujsk, Belarus sent me this FANTASTIC card! I really love Russian history, and anything Russian related. So she sent me this vintage card that celebrates May 9 – the anniversary of “The Great Patriotic War”.
Yachuan from Taiwan also collects stamps, and she sent me this enormous amount of mint stamps! I was speechless when I opened the envelope. I still don’t know what to say! WOW! I love everything! I’m so excited to add these stamps to my album! 🙂
